Recently,we have customers asking whether PCMtuner will read and write VAG Simos PCR2.1 by OBD or Bank. Here comes the official answer from PCMTuner Technical Support.
OBD only after unlock in BSL mode, like described and like original PCM flash. BSL unlock it, then OBD read it. If some don’t have password, then can direct obd read it.
Module 57
1) Check the current lock status with ECU in the car, if the check is disabled, you can go to read-write.
otherwise follow the instructions
2) Remove the unit from the car, open it, transfer the processor to BSL mode using the connection (PCR2.1) and unlock.
Reading writing can be done with ECU in car.
bsl – open ecu, connect resistors

· 1.2L MPI (SIMOS11) – Virtual reading, reading, writing, checksum correction.
· 1.6L TDI (PCR2.1) – Reading, writing, checksum correction (map area reading/writing after unlocking in BSL!)
· PCR2.1 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL) – Reading, writing (EEPROM reading/writing, ECU unlocking).
