I bought fvdi 2018 from obd2tool.com and it does not work on edc17 vag
I have tested edc17c14 and edc17c46. It does not read eprom or flash in boot mode or directly.
Just make the diagnosis on edc17 vag

I ordered one. I had FVDI 2014 and 2015 before. This 2018 version has the same software versions as the 2015 version except that has updated software for VAG and BMW/Mini which is from the VVDI software. IMMO 4 and 5 key programming is working. Only tested on 2012 Scirocco 2.0 TSi and 2014 Audi A5 2.0T.
Mercedes software still has bugs for odometer correction. W204 did not work.
Overall it is good value for money. Not as good as OBDSTAR X300 DP PAD for keys and odometer but has many better functions like programming and calibrations.
Review 3:
mine works on K-line but CAN does not work, as soon as connection with can bus is established the voltage level on the bus drops to near zero and the rest of the data traffic is blocked – the “start communication ” and “tester Present” messages are sent ok but there is no reponse from the other can nodes due to a blocked can bus.
As soon as i disconnect (in the software) the normal can bus data traffic is restored with normal signal level.
I suspect a faulty can transceiver but i’m awaiting a reply from the seller FVDIOBD….
see video’s with communication of a working FVDI 2014 and the faulty FVDI 2018 in the same setup….
EDIT : well today FVDIOBD engineer connected with Teamviewer and started by opening Renault software , after that my Fiat software came to life after i did numerous previous attempts to get it running….
They say they did not change anything which is strange but for now the Fiat software is working on CAN – not always opening at the first attempt but at least it runs which is better as before the engineer’s check…..
The tool works without internet connection although it shows updating of the remaining days at connection but when connecting with the interface it still shows 0 days remaining but it still connects.
FVDIOBD service is good with good Skype and Teamviewer support, i hope the tool will keep working for a longer period….

FVDI 2018 using can…. Have some tips for sharing
car battery needs to have good voltage
i have posted many times before
you need to have 14.2v stabilised to get good results
ie not a battery charger, not the car running
but a battery stabilser connected that you can set a voltage on, we find 13.8 to 15v needed on various cars before any tool works correctly and clone fvdi need this the most
from our own experience with a flyfvdi2 and genuine avdi, vcm2, mb C5, icom, gm mdi, obdstar, tech2, kess, ktag, autel eltite
only genuine vcds, opcom and vvdi2 seem ok at any voltage, although vvdi2 is a bit hit and miss
basically if you are trying to program with any tool
you need to be able to control battery voltage and adjust if it fails step up slowly in 0.2v increments from 13.8 until it works
if you get to 15v on a clone then its never going to happen
